welcome

Welcome

Founded in the 1930s, the Benenden Tennis Tournament takes place annually in July in the grounds of Benenden School in Kent, by kind permission of the Headmistress.

Over the years, three generations of tennis players have enjoyed friendly, competitive tennis on the eleven all-weather courts in this beautiful setting.

The tournament has gone from strength to strength, raising thousands of pounds every year with all proceeds going directly to predominantly local charities. Benenden is a very sociable tournament and families come for the day, enjoying their picnics under the trees.

There is a wonderful atmosphere; home made cakes and hot and cold drinks are served in the tea tent and there are exclusive Benenden Tennis Tournament t-shirts, caps & bottles on sale, a racquet-stringing service and an exciting raffle, with prizes donated by local companies. All proceeds go to charity.

Dates for Junior Tournament: Wed 24th – Fri 26th July 2024

Friday 26th July – Junior Mixed Doubles – All Ages

This is an informal, social and fun event for the children.
All matches for this year’s tournament will be played at Benenden School.

The tournament is run in a round-robin format with medals for all court winners and runners-up. Each court is made up of children who are in the same age group. Courts will have age appropriate balls – orange, green and yellow.

Volunteers

All courts are supervised by parents who kindly volunteer to help us. The tournament could not happen without the dedicated team of umpires, court supervisors and tea tent helpers who ensure that the juniors’ match days run as smoothly as possible.

If you can help us either on the court or in the tea tent on the day your child is playing, please contact Georgina Wixley at [email protected].
